Before we get started…

My Predictive Index reference profile is a Specialist. If you’re wondering what it’s like to work with a specialist… “Specialists are cautious, introspective, and highly loyal to authority. They value details and need to fully understand a topic before making decisions. Supportive and collaborative, they don’t obsess over having things their way-but they do obsess over getting things right.”

Characteristics of a specialist

I’m an ISTJ, but…

My Myers-Briggs personality type is ISTJ. Also known as a Logistician or Reasonable Realist. Or, someone with the introverted, observant, thinking and judging personality traits. In short, I’m quiet and hardworking. And I thrive on structure with clear rules.

You may notice that my predictive index results conflict with this in some aspects. To provide some clarity, I’d consider myself a learned extrovert. I prefer the introvert lifestyle but have no issue putting myself out there and behaving in an extroverted manner.

My Culture Index

I’m an “Architect,” or an INTJ, which is slightly different from when I took the Myers-Briggs. INTJs and ISTJs are both Introverted, Thinking, and Judging personalities, preferring to spend time alone, base decisions on logical thinking, and follow set plans. INTJs, however, tend to think a great deal about the future, while ISTJs prefer to focus on what’s right in front of them.

More professional stuff

I love to learn and live by the motto, “Learn something new every day.” I work best by myself, but I thrive when in groups and collaborating with others. Especially when the team is diverse and filled with intelligent intellectuals who encourage personal and professional growth.

I consider myself a lot of things, but from a professional standpoint, two of my characteristics include:

  • I’d consider myself a workhorse. Sometimes to a fault. Work/life balance is something I have to work at.
  • I’d consider myself a generalist, but I love to get into the nitty-gritty aspects of marketing.

How I work and communicate

Let me start by saying I’m always available, to an extent. Call me, text me, chat me, email me at any time of the day and I’ll respond as soon as I’m available. Communication is key but nothing beats organization for me.

I like to work in sprints with zero distractions (easier said than done) and my biggest pet peeve is death by meetings. With that said, I understand that meetings are vital in certain situations.

Lastly, I live in Alaska Standard Time but work on Central Standard Time. My best work is typically completed late at night or early in the morning.

Now, some personal stuff
